Party season has started: Belfeszt is coming!
Posted by Budnews · May 14, 2018

This is the first big open-air festival of the season.

Summer means different things for everybody, but one thing is sure: these months are the ultimate festival season. Here, in Budapest we have a great and free one in the exact center of the city. This is Belfeszt (the name comes from the Hungarian word for the city center), a „mini” Sziget festival. In Budapest almost every district has its own day or weekend, where concerts and craft stalls entertain the crowd. The largest of these is the festival of downtown. It’s held on the last weekend of May and the coolest bands of Hungary give fantastic concerts during these three days.

The Belvárosi Festival is made for those who love the city and love the constant bustle, but they also like to sit down and just look around. It's the perfect choice for those who love new things, but appreciate the traditions and like to feel good in the middle of the capital. The festival takes place in 5 venues this year: Szabadság tér, Erzsébet tér, Zrínyi utca, Vigadó tér and at the inner city market.

Jazz, rock, pop, folk and classical concerts are waiting from early afternoon to late evening, you can visit the Gastro Street at the market, and take your children to the family day on Sunday. Belfeszt worth visiting even when you’re not familiar with the Hungarian bands because its atmosphere is unlike any other festival’s!
