According to a recent decree, a major exhibition opens in Budapest on Rembrandt and the Dutch Golden Age in the Museum of Fine Arts this autumn.

Museum of Fine Arts has displayed a collection of arts which achieved international importance, seventeenth-century Dutch painting has been one of the strongest focus points within its scope – understandably, since this amazing ensemble of old Dutch paintings is among the most important over the world; the 500 works by seventeenth-century artists is the world’s fourth largest collection outside the Netherlands. At the exhibitions all over Europe and overseas devoted to this period, it’s usually represented by the most significant pieces.

Museum of Fine Arts wishes to introduce the rich artistic culture of the Dutch Golden Age, the large-scale exhibition opens 1 November. It will showcase 170 works by the greatest Dutch masters from the 17th century, including three well-known pieces by Johannes Vermeer: The Geographer, The Astronomer and The Allegory of Faith. Furthermore, out of the exhibition’s six sections, one will be dedicated solely to Rembrandt: 20 canvases by the master from his earliest and last paintings will be presented. The art pieces will be on loan from Frankfurt, the Louvre of Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
