The best places to cool down in Budapest
Posted by Réka Szentesi · Jun 12, 2014

Summer in the city can be wonderful, especially when you have some ideas about where to cool down a little bit.

Fellini Bistro is one of my favorite places. Order a glass of lemonade, a beer or a Greek salad by the river Danube, enjoy the sunlight and feel free to cool your body down in the river. Since this part of the Danube is above Budapest, its water is surprisingly clean. Fellini Bistro offers you not just refreshing beverages, but trendy, beach style deck chairs which you can use as long as you wish, if consuming of course.

Drive your car, ride a bike to Óbuda, or take the bus number 34 from Árpád Bridge to find Fellini Bistro.

Address: 1039 Budapest, Kossuth Lajos Üdülőpart 5.

If I would have to translate the following place’s name, Kertem, I’d say it means My garden. And it is like my or like your garden, but full of chairs, tables and nice people. Located in Városliget, under a bunch of huge and beautiful trees, this place offers you sheer atmosphere and lots of shade. Lovely during the night with its many colorful light bulbs. Must be nice to watch the World Cup here!

Address: 1146 Budapest, Olof Palme sétány 3.

If you are looking for a place to enjoy a cool drink in downtown area, check out Raqpart, this brand new place. Located at the bridgehead of the Chain Bridge, on the Pest side of the city, you can jump in for a cool beer with your colleges after work, meet your friends before a party, or just get a break during a hot summer day in the city center, but still by the river, where as we know, a slight breeze always makes the heat easier to stick it out.

Address: 1055 Budapest, Jane Haining Rakpart.
