Oktoberfest Budapest: the beer festival conquers Hungary
Posted by Budnews · Sep 25, 2017

Biggest beer festival of Germany has its Hungarian alter ego.

If your path doesn’t lead to Germany this fall, don’t worry. Munich and the bear festival come to you and bring the original Bavarian lifestyle. Oktoberfest Budapest is the same as it’s brother: the biggest beer festival of the year. The event modeled after the more than 200-year-old, traditional German Oktoberfest and has hundreds of kinds of foreign, domestic and craft beers, and several nation’s cuisine.

This year’s event has moved to Kincsem Park, so the festival became bigger, and betted: they doubled the number of beer benches, Paulaner Tent became bigger and there will be traditional horse and greyhound races. This year the organizers put special emphasis on the Bavarian traditions, so we can taste some special "Oktoberfest" meals at the festival. Classics, such as Wiesn-Hendl, that is grilled chicken, with the most delicious potato salad or cabbage salad, fried noodles, Bavarian sausages and, of course, Bavarian pretzel. Of course, there will also be Wiesenherzen, a heart-shaped gingerbread, Kaiserschmarren and hot strudel. Hungary’s 25 craft breweries debut in the “craft beers street”, and we can taste the best food specialties of several nations as well.

Venue: Kincsem Park, 1101 Budapest, Albertirsai út 2-4.

Date: 05.-08 October
