After CNN, Lonely Planet has also mentioned Szimpla Kert in their newest book about the top 50 mind-blowing bars.

Ruin pubs are trending in Budapest for years now, locals and tourists love these special bars and the unique atmosphere provided by these spots. And of course the best of these ruin pubs are noticed by the media in Hungary and abroad, as well.

Recently, it was Lonely Planet, the world’s largest travel book publisher that mentioned Budapest’s well-known ruin pub Szimpla Kert among the 50 most amazing bars from around the world. They also clarify the definition of ruin pubs and mention that the place runs an organic market for four years already, and that exhibitions are organized here, as well.

Besides the 10-year-old spot, you can find some more interesting spots on Lonely Planet’s list, for example the first ice-bar from Sweden and the bar under (and in) the largest tree of the world in South Africa.

In 2013, CNN has already put Szimpla Kert on a list of the best ruin pubs.
