Szimfonik Live: pop music – seriously
Posted by Ágnes Taraszovics · Aug 28, 2014

Classical music lovers will have a special day on the first Saturday of September.  At the Szimfonik Live concert the representatives of popular and classical music will find their common points for the fourth time.

Imagine the situation: on one side the Hungarian pop/rock/alternative music artists, on the other side the MR (Hungarian State Radio) Symphony Orchestra and Choir bring their art. The modern hits dressed in classical music robes will be born from this particular marriage.

The concert will be held in the framework of "Public media day", where anyone can get to know the programs and presenters of the Hungarian State Television, we can meet Olympians and can test ourselves as a voice actor too. During the following Szimfonik Live concert popular Hungarian songs can be heard, this time in a joint performance of Hungarian top singers and the MR Symphony. At the pair productions the singers will present each other’s song in a revised and symphonic version, and the musicians will also perform 8 collective productions, the adaptations of old, well-known Hungarian hits.

If you became curious, you can get some insight in last year's presentation:

At the concert members of the most famous Hungarian bands will perform, including Zagar, Irie Maffia, Brains and Mary Popkids, just like solo singers, such as last year's Hungarian Eurovision candidate, ByeAlex. The fifty-member MR Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Sándor Balogh, while the members of pop, rock or ska bands will play in the accompanying beat orchestra.

As the conductor said earlier, the aim of Szimfonik Live is that young people who are fans of various pop artists become familiar with the atmosphere of the classical music concert halls and make their musical taste more colorful. It succeeded so well, that last year the crowd didn’t even fit to the place. So many people wanted to see the show that quite a few people did not get into the concert due to lack of space. So if you want to see Szimfonik Live, you’d better arrive on time!
