If you are a fan of contemporary art, and if you would like to see an exhibition where light got the main role, then visit New Budapest Gallery for enjoying “More light”.
Light. It is much more than just a simple word, it means the possibility of seeing, observing, experiencing the world around us. And with the modern neon lights, lasers, LED lights, there is also the possibility of creating something artistic. That’s the base of “More light!” exhibition in New Budapest Gallery, in Bálna Budapest.
The place is really unique: imagine a whale-formed building - with a lot of glass and red-brick at the exterior of it - on the Pest side of the Danube, at the river bank. It is huge, with a lot of possibilities and potential in it – some of these possibilities hidden for the future yet. For example, we could imagine more restaurants, cafés or shops to visit here, but maybe in a couple of years, this becomes reality.

But now, let’s continue with the exposition area. On the first floor of this unique building, you can find New Budapest Gallery, where “More light!” exhibition can be seen. After mentioning the size of the building itself, we have to use for the exhibition space the same word again: it is huge. The exposition itself is sizeable and sweeping, too.
The light art collection conceived of and realized by the Hungarian curator Endre Lehel Paksi, presents a wide array of experiments by Hungarian.You can see here modern, and in our opinion a little bit futuristic compositions that could be successful and popular in any international exhibitions of the world.

The list of artists include for example György Kepes, Gábor Csongor Szigeti, Attila Csáji, Lajos Dargay, Miklós Erdély, György Galántai, Viktor Vicsek, Gyula Július, Ágnes Eperjesi, Lenke Szilágyi, Zawar Kollektiva, Dóra Berkes, and the BLOCK Team (BLOCK Csoport).
The artifacts of this exhibition were complemented with pieces and professional assistance from prestigious partners, for example from the Budapest History Museum, Municipal Picture Gallery, Janus Pannonius Museum in Pécs, Kepes Institute of Eger, and Museum of Electrical Engineering.

We agree with the creators of the exhibition: it was a good idea to put the lasers, the neon lights, the LEDs and projectors in context, so you can learn here more for example about the illumination of the buildings in Budapest, from the beginning.
