PARIS! PARIS! IN BUDAPEST
Posted by Eszter Hermann · May 1, 2014

Haute couture, melodious chansons, wine, cheese and macaron. All can be found at the Museum of Fine Arts on 17 May.

There is one day every year, when museums all across Europe expand their opening hours and let visitors in till approximately 1 am. The European Night of Museums was started by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication in 2005, and since then, has proved wildly popular – plenty of Hungarian museums participate in the cultural initiative, too. Joining the series of events of the 10th Night of Museums on 17 May (and inspired by the Toulouse-Lautrec exhibition that has opened on 30 April), the Museum of Fine Arts of Budapest organizes a wondrous French evening, more so, a late-night revelry, with an aim to evoke the unique atmosphere of the city of love, Paris.

Paris! Paris! will offer guided tours and colourful programs to visitors. Zséda, the popular Hungarian singer prepares for the event with an all-night concert, but you can get acquainted with typical French-style party music, too, DJ Starsky Sound will be the one to try to „move your feet”.You can have a glimpse into the famous French gastronomy at culinary demonstrations, try yourself in an authentic French game, petanque, or, if you prefer using your wits, choose card games in the bohemian-style cafe set in the Baroque Hall.

The event will satisfy all your senses, there will be a macaron corner for sweet-toothed guests and an accordion player to entertain music lovers. Boulet, aka Gilles Roussel, the famous French comic book creator and blogger will invite guests to an interactive comic drawing adventure, and, for the sake of complete indulgence, Zsolt Zólyomi, the only Hungarian perfumer will guide the lucky visitors through the Toulouse-Loutrec exhibition with stunning fragrances.Furthermore, there’s no French evening without fashion; the performance of Manier Haute Couture Salon, titled [a]symmetric, will show a little piece of the unique world of Paris’ runways. And it seems that you don’t even have to worry about the right outfit for an event like that, during the evening, ladies can design their own hats and headdresses, gentlemen can create their top-hats and bow ties on the spot.
