Would you like to meet Sophia, the humanoid robot? You will have the opportunity for that next summer. Let us tell you more about it.

Plenty of robots has been designed and constructed all around the globe but Sophia is a bit different from these creations. It (or maybe let’s say ‘she’) is the world’s first robot who got a citizenship – more precisely, in Saudi-Arabia. We’ll have the opportunity to meet this humanoid robot soon because Sophia will arrive to Budapest next summer as a guest at the Brain Bar festival at Corvinus University’s campus.

Sophia is the creation of Hanson Robotics - capable of expressing human emotions, understands speech, recognizes faces, can maintain eye contact. And what’s maybe even more interesting, the robot also jokes sometimes. Her jokes are not really liked by everyone though. In some cases, these statements intended to be funny are followed by laughter but in some cases, people think that she is rather strange and feel some fear or rage instead.

Listen to the following interview – it is quite interesting, isn’t it? Now what do you think of the humanoid robot?

Sophia is quite famous in the world: the robot played rock-paper-scissors with television host Jimmy Fallon and was featured on Elle magazine’s cover.
