Who is the most popular Hungarian on YouTube?

Actor, comedian, singer or politician – who can be the most popular Hungarian on YouTube? Well, none of these above, but what he does is something extraordinary.

We thought that the YouTube channel of a Hungarian musician or band could be the most popular on the famous video sharing site but we were wrong – the most popular Hungarian is an artist. Socialblade.com found out that among the Hungarian YouTubers, Sándor Vámos has the most subscribers, almost one million people follow him.

Vámos - a painter, art instructor and caricaturist - launched his channel in 2012. Next year, after being diagnosed with a rare immune disease, he had to quit teaching at school but he can continue working as an entrepreneur.

He can do a lot of his business online, and now he spends most of his time creating his speedpaint videos. He has been uploading video footage of his working process when creating lifelike drawings, portraits and cartoons, or even misleading optical illusions. He would like his channel to remain one of the leading international art channels on YouTube but he says it’s not easy: it’s much more challenging to stay among the most popular artists than getting there.

What he does is something incredible. Check out his interpretation of the monster of Loch Ness here:
