And this is how the main location of the event will look like.

We read recently that Budapest will stage the World Athletics Championships in 2023. The decision announced in Monaco in December 2018 makes possible the realisation of the plans of a new state-financed arena.

The complex will be called National Athletics Centre, will be built where Csepel island meets south Pest, and will have the capacity of 40 000 persons.

World Athletics Championships will happen in Budapest for nine days in mid-August 2023. The event, only one down in importance from the Olympics, has recently been held in Beijing, Moscow and London, so this can be seen as a major coup for Hungary.
