3+1 beautiful places to see in Hungary this spring
Posted by Mia Balogh · Apr 11, 2019

If you are lucky enough to spend a couple of days in Hungary this spring, and you really feel like seeing something more than the wonders of Budapest, then let yourself be inspired by the following list. Which one of these wonderful places will you visit?

1, The salt hill of Egerszalók

Egerszalók lies 5 km away from Eger, must-see town for the fans of history and good wines. Egerszalók is famous for its thermal spring, coming from a depth of 40m, but also for a special salt hill formed here. It is truly amazing, we highly recommend you a visit. ;)

2, ‘Floating houses’ on the lake of Bokod

You might have seen some Hungarian wedding pictures made right at some colourful tiny houses built on wooden poles – well, this is the floating village of Bokod, a fantastic, unmissable place approximately 50 miles from Budapest.

3, Hiking at the Balaton

Lake Balaton can be a great destination in every season. For example this spring, a lot of spring programs are organized all around the lake. Or do you prefer a hike? Then we recommend you to visit the Szabadság-kilátó (Freedom lookout tower) in Csere hill, Alsóörs.

+1. Big Hárs Hill in Buda Hills

If you don’t want to leave the city, or you won’t have enough time to go further, just enjoy a nice afternoon on Big Hárs Hill in Buda Hills. Take a bus 22, 22A or 222 on Széll Kálmán Square and in 15 minutes, you can enjoy the beauties of the nature and a nice hike to Kaán Károly lookout tower. The place is also highly recommended for joggers, just saying. ;)
