Krakow is the first city on the list, Budapest and Amsterdam share 5th place – let’s see why is our capital so popular among the Brits.

A new British survey has found that Budapest is the fifth most popular destination among the Brits, Blikk.hu writes. According to the Hungarian website, the research examined the friendliest and most affordable European cities from the tourists’ point of view, besides the well-known sights.

Our capital was ranked 5th, like Amsterdam, one of the favourite destinations of the British tourists. But why is our capital so popular? Of course, we know that the unique beauty of Budapest attracts millions of people every year and the prices are also acceptable here – cheep booze has made the city also the capital of stag parties and hen dos.

But it is also important to mention that accommodation prices are affordable – even if they choose a four-star hotel, it is available ‘for pennies’ to them. And travel passes are also cheap for the Brits: a three-day-long travel pass is available for them for a quite friendly price, and travelling for free over the age of 65 is also important for them.

According to the survey results, Budapest overtook popular cities such as Vienna, Rome or Lisbon. Krakow finished first, because – according to respondents – they can have the same experience there like in Amsterdam or Paris but at half price.
