She lost a lot of weight for Irén’s role but we suppose that in the end it was totally worth it.

On 25 November, Hungarian websites announced that Marina Gera won Best Performance by an Actress award at 47th International Emmy Awards. She got this historic recognition for her role in television drama ‘Eternal Winter’, directed by Attila Szász, based on Norbert Köbli’s script.

The actress who lost a lot of weight for her role, stopped at 46 kg – because her character, Irén and the other women were starving in the film –, dedicated her award to all the Hungarian victims who suffered in the Soviet Union.

Besides Marina Gera, another Hungarian production was nominated for an Emmy Award: a television film, Trezor, directed by Péter Bergendy was among the nominees for an International Emmy in the TV movie/mini-series category, but only Marina was awarded.

Anyway, congratulations to all the Hungarian filmmakers who played a part in these fantastic nominations and of course to Marina Gera who won Hungary’s first ever Emmy Award.
