This will be a super interesting season for the Museum of Fine Arts and the National Gallery in Budapest: these well-known museums will show exhibitions featuring Cézanne, abstract artist Sean Scully, Pál Szinyei Merse and some others, as the director of the two museums László Baán, said on Tuesday on a press conference in the Hungarian capital.

The National Gallery, located in Buda Castle is absolutely worth visiting: English Pre-Rafaelites will be in the spotlight at springtime, abstract artist Sean Scully in the autumn, and there will be a rare comprehensive exhibition with the artworks of Hungarian impressionist Pál Szinyei Merse, too.

We think that one of the most interesting exhibitions this year will be the one that presents the discovery of the tomb of the Pharaoh Amenhotep II – even his burial chamber will be reconstructed on a scale of 1:1 in the rooms of the exhibition, opening on 17 April in the Museum of Fine Arts at the City Park.
