In Summer, a lot of Hungarian families are heading to Lake Balaton for some water fun and refreshment. And it is not surprising that in these days when COVID-19 is still a current menace, folks don’t really want (or dare) to travel abroad so more people are interested in a vacation at the biggest Hungarian lake.

Lake Balaton offers many beaches so the question is which are the best ones? Kék Hullám Zászló (Blue Wave Flag) is an annual competition to help find the answers for that. Each year, the beaches are put into different categories based on several aspects.

This year, 35 beaches graded, HelloVidek.hu writes, and finally, here is the list of the best ones.

Five-star beaches at Lake Balaton include Balatonföldvár East Beach, Zamárdi Main Beach, Balatonalmádi Wesselényi Beach, Balatonberény Municipal Beach, Alsóörs Municipal Beach, Balatonfüred Esterházy Beach, Balatonfüred Kisfaludy Beach, Szigliget Municipal Beach, Csopak Municipal Beach, Balatonederics Zöld Hullám Beach, Vonyarcvashegy Lido Beach, Keszthely City Beach, Gyenesdiás Diási Játék Beach, Gyenesi Lido Beach, Balatongyörök Municipal Beach, Balatonszárszó Mikszáth Street Central Beach and Badacsonytomaj City Beach.
