Sleeping and dining cars on international trains suspended

If you are planning to leave Budapest in the near-future, and you would cross the borders on a train with sleeping and dining cars, you should know about these important changes.

You must have heard about the re-introduced Hungarian border closure from 1 September, but what if you choose to leave our beloved capital by train in the near-future?

Well, if you wanted to travel by using a sleeping and/or dining car on the train, it might be useful information to you that these services will be suspended by Hungarian Railways (MÁV), in line with government measures, and in order to protect their staff on the trains. Sleeping cars will be replaced by regular ones.

In the international timetable for train traffic, there are no restrictions – MÁV said recently. They added that they will reimburse the price of the international train tickets valid for September without handling costs if someone would prefer cancelling their trip.
