Antique Placc: antiquities and design market
Posted by Ágnes Taraszovics · Oct 30, 2014

Retro, antique and vintage are very fashionable nowadays, not by chance: there are never enough of the old-new things. The creators of “Antique Placc”, the latest design market in Budapest also share this opinion. At this antique market there are many good quality antiquities, vintage treasures and various retro items to purchase every Sunday.

The Antique Placc is a new initiation, a sort of marketplace where the antique style and design are combined. Exciting exhibitors, unique products and authentic fairground atmosphere characterize this place. The Placc was not only destined for an average market, but for also art, family and public programs, and a kind of high-quality indoor meeting place and experience point.

Here, in the Bálna (“Whale”) Budapest – next to the sale of antique rarities - craftsmen and conservators introduce themselves every week, moreover, we all can learn interior design tips and practices from experts. Also thematic exhibitions and artistic performances enrich these Sunday market days, and the gastronomic delights cannot be separated either: various catering units provide culinary delights.

However, the place itself is special too: Bálna, that is now a commercial, cultural, entertainment and leisure centre, was originally a warehouse. Nowadays, during the fairs, the entertainment of the children is ensured by the Fabrika Workshop, so parents and relatives can walk around the fair undisturbed. In addition to the arts and crafts, the little ones can learn to sell their wares under constant supervision in the children playground market made especially for them. But the Placc has another novelty to come up with: from now on we don’t have to let strangers in our apartment, as we can receive a free valuation for our antiquities on-site, from professionals.

The organizers revealed: the Placc want to establish a new vision of the mixture of antique and design, the old and the new; and present the old, renovated and redesigned, modified objects and their creators among a beautiful environment, in the framework of cozy programs. Their aim is to endear the world of antiquity with today’s generation, and call attention to these values. The hosts expect everyone who is open to new things, but also susceptible to the old ones. And we think it's worth to drop en route.

Address: Bálna Budapest, 1093 Budapest, Fővám tér 11-12.

Date: Every Sunday from 10.00 to 18.00
