Budapest Airport is above 10M passangers

Whole Hungary showed up on Budapest Airport this year.

Of course only symbolically: Budapest Airport joined the 10M+ club on December 10, as they had their 10 millionth passenger. The record-breaker couple (who were selected by prize draw) can spend a four-day long weekend in Istanbul courtesy of the Turkish Pegasus Airlines. And of course, the airport also thought of all other passengers on the occasion of this big day: the staff surprised everyone with delicate pastries.

In connection with the record, CEO of Budapest Airport Jost Lammers said: “This is a proud moment for Budapest Airport, as surpassing the 10 million mark speaks volumes for our hard work and our staying power as one of the leading airports of Europe.” Explaining how they managed to achieve such a good result, he added: The strategy of the airport for this year has been to seek out new and exciting destinations, as well as solidifying their position in Central Europe. Achieving this record traffic was driven by new flights launched earlier this year, extended airport capacities, and increased frequencies, as well as the continuously developing touristic offer of Budapest and the favorable price/benefit ratio for foreigners. Next year is already set to be even busier as they continue to do all they can to ensure Budapest, and Hungary remain an attractive market, while ensure the demands of the catchment area and beyond are met.
