5 hottest men in Rio
Posted by Ágnes Taraszovics · Feb 23, 2016

After our list last week about the most beautiful Hungarian women in the Olympics, here comes our top compilation about the hottest guys in Rio this year. One thing is sure: whether they’ll win a medal or not, they are already on the podium in our hearts.

Áron Szilágyi

Áron Szilágyi is a Hungarian sabre fencer, Olympic -, European- and team world champion. He began fencing at age nine and since then he became real good: was in the top 16 at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and won his first Olympics gold medal in London at the age of 22. He became the Hungarian fencer of the year multiple times, received the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary and he is Honorary Citizen of Budapest since 2012.

Dániel Gyurta:

Daniel Gyurta is Olympic champion, three-time world- and double European champion swimmer. And the most successful, still active Hungarian man swimmer. He mainly competes in the 200-metre breaststroke (won silver medal in the men's 200-metre breaststroke at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens at age 15, set an Olympic record in the preliminaries of the 200-metre breaststroke at the 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing and won gold medal in London 4 years later). And he has UNESCO Fair play award next to a dozen others.

Péter Somfai

Péter Somfai is a Hungarian epée fencer (fencing is sexy, I guess), who got team silver medal in the 2009 and 2011 World Championships and team gold medal in the 2009 and 2010 European Championships. This year he fought out the Rio Olympic participation as the member of the Hungarian men's epee team, so hopefully the list will expand soon.

István Péni

The very-very young shooter, the only 19-year-old István Péni is the dream of teen girl's. He started training in 2008 and competing in 2009 and since then his scores are improving really fast. Despite his young age he has set more than 20 Hungarian records and won more than 30 Hungarian Championships. In 2014 he won gold and bronze medal at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing and this year he has the chance to prove among adults at the Olympic Games in Rio.

Gábor Józsa

Of course, athletes cannot be forgotten: Gábor Józsa is marathon runner, national marathon champion and I really don’t know why we don’t hear about him more often. Hold on tight to something: when he is not running hundreds of kilometers, Gábor has a civil life: he’s working as an IT specialist! And this is the point where I think we all have to rethink a few stereotypes.
