Try this form of refreshment in Budapest

Cool, fresh water will be provided by 43 drinking fountains made of fire hydrants in Budapest this summer.

Fortunately, fire hydrants can’t be seen in use very often, but we have plenty of them – usually forming obstacles for bikers and for those who would like to park their cars. So we can say that these red objects are not quite popular.

But people’s opinion has changed a lot about fire hydrants since an innovative and creative initiative, ReHydrant Project came out with a quick and easy solution that makes a drinking fountain from any of these hydrants.

In Budapest, you can find taps like this near Deák tér (we have seen some in front of the Basilica, on the corner of Sas and Zrínyi Streets earlier). In 2014, 11 special fountains were planned around the city, and we have just read that for this summer, their number will be significantly increased: 43 fire hydrants will be transformed into special public taps in Budapest.

The ReHydrant can be a useful product for governments and local water utility companies to solve the problems caused by the lack of public drinking fountains, and it can bring refreshment for locals, as well. You can also forget about PET bottles, so it is an eco-friendly solution. And the cool, fresh water provided by these special fountains is completely for free!
