Train stations are not the most pleasant places, we just use it in a functional way and go on. This seems to be changing in Budapest, at least we have one really good reason to stay there a bit. From November 2019 to May 2020, the MÁV Symphony Orchestra will entertain the traveling audience of the Déli, Nyugati and Keleti Railway Stations with mini concerts!

The artists of the ensemble perform mainly classical music: the mini-concerts are 20 minutes long and each has a theme. During this a half year the audience can see and hear horn quartet, woodwind and bass quintet and string quartet. Various epochs of classical music will be introduced, but they will also keep an eye on current music, so -for example - during the Advent period, the best artworks associated with Christmas will be performed.

The concert series began on November 6th, and the final performance expected to be in next May. Train station concerts are held in every two weeks on Wednesdays: from 15:30 at Nyugati Train Station, under the main information display located at the beginning of the platforms, than continues from 16:30 at the Déli Railway Station in the passenger waiting hall, and ends from 17:30 at the Keleti Train Station's Lotz Hall. In addition to the Budapest venues, there will also be a few concerts in the waiting room of the Vác station: November 12 at 1 pm, December 11, January 22, February 19, March 18, April 15 and May 13 at 15: 30 pm.
